Together We Can
For those that don’t know, I write the blog you get each day weeks ahead of time now. What you are reading today was written April 28th, the day after the devastating tornado came through Tuscaloosa.
As I watched the tornado come through I was in awe of the power of the storm. It was moving so fast that it was gone before I really had a sense of what was happening. Watching the actual funnel cloud and wall cloud was incredible. Seeing the debris flying everywhere. Knowing that people would be killed was even more devastating. Then going down and seeing the damage first hand was even more shocking to me. I grew up where hurricanes where more prevalent, not tornado’s. What I saw on McFarland and 15th Street was not something I knew how to comprehend. I really had nothing to compare it to. People said war zone, but I have never been in a war zone. I have seen the widespread damage of several hurricanes, but nothing like this before. We had just been in the hit areas a couple of hours before. I know that we will be fine and recover from this in time. Those that have lost property and especially those that lost loved ones will need our prayers and support. Thank you all for your comments and love you have shown. I ask that we always support and show love to others, not just in cases like this.

Roadmap to Your Destiny

I am putting together a program, Roadmap to Your Destiny. It is a year long program that will help you discover and live your destiny. I am keeping the number of partners to 15 so that we can do this right.
If you are serious about wanting to discover and live your destiny then this may just be what you have been looking for. There is no cost for this program but you will be required to do your part. Stir It Up

It’s time to stir up that gift that is inside of you. I was thinking the other day about what is like when we are operating in our gift. Not so much from our point of view but from God’s point of view. He is the One who gave us our gift.
I was thinking what it must be like when we use our gift; whatever your gift may be. What does God see? What must He think when we are using our gift with no agenda, no motive except to honor Him? I don’t believe it is wrong to think that God has tough days, He is dealing us you know. So when we are just giving back to Him what must He feel? If it’s music, writing, art, teaching, care giving whatever your gift is, how proud of us is He? When we are in that flow, in the zone and what we are doing just seems effortless, you know it has to be because He is listening and watching. It’s not performing before God, but just enjoying God and He enjoying us. I know as a dad I am proud of my little girl when she is operating in her gift, even as young as she is, how much more must He feel toward us. It is beyond my concept, but I am beginning to get a sense of it. All of this is to say, use your gift. Stir up the gift that is inside you. Use it without agenda or motive. Just do it! You are an awesome and gifted person, no matter what that gift may be. As we lean into 2011, honor God with your gift.

Love is the Key

We are getting closer to great change. I don’t hinge great change on January 1st, but I use it as a point of reference. Great stuff is coming our way. Are you ready? Will you be aware of the changes?
If love is the determining factor in all you do; then you will be aware and you will be ready for the changes. We have to have unconditional love for ourselves and for others. Unconditional love for ourselves is always looking to love others. To love yourself is to serve others. When we love others and serve others then we will see the changes that are coming. We will begin to live our destiny when we love others. You see, selfishness can’t exist if unconditional love is in control. Selfishness and destiny can’t exist together. We have to love, if we are going to live our destiny. It is that simple. When we lay it all down, love is the only thing that will remain. Love is the key to this whole thing we call life, destiny, purpose and so on. Check yourself right now and see what is in control of your decisions, your thoughts, your life. Is it love or something else? Allowing love to be our decision-maker, our guide will change our live like nothing else. Love never quits, it never gives up and love always wins. Love never fails!

Wait Up

This time of the year I hear folk talking about how they are so tired. Folk are wore out from the holidays. There is a verse that says; those that wait on the Lord will renew their strength.
That verse goes on to talk about the young and the old both being strong. There is strength available for our spirit, soul and body. To be a person of destiny we must be strong in all areas. There will be times we are tired, but we can and will be renewed when we wait on the Lord. That word wait doesn’t mean we sit around and do nothing, but like a waiter or waitress, we serve. When we serve God we are renewed. When we serve others we are renewed. To be a person of destiny it means we are servants, so renewing is for you. If you are serving but are not being renewed, check your motives, agendas, and who it is you are serving. Also, make sure you are serving Jesus first, then others. Be a servant and see your strength renewed daily.

Getting Right

I have said several times how excited I am about the new year. There are things lining up and getting into place that are going to change your and my lives forever. I am pumped about it.
We all have been through situations in this past year that have prepared us for what is coming next in our destiny. You may have cussed those times, but they have formed and molded you into the champion that you are right now. Never despise the tough, hard and difficult times because out of them champions are developed. The things you been through in the past year, most folk would have lost their mind, but you have prevailed and accepted the challenges. You are a person of destiny. You have courage, honor, humility and persistence in you. You are going to be in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing, the right way, with the right folk in 2011. Stay focused, stay on course, stay in a destiny mindset. It is coming and coming soon! Get ready for it. 2011 is going to be far above and beyond anything you have ever dreamed of or imagined.

Sharpen the Axe

It is common this time of year to write out a Christmas list; whether for what we want or for what others want. The idea is to give and get a gift that we don’t have or the other person doesn’t have. No use in asking for or getting something we or they already have.
Staying with the same thought process; we may be asking for something we already have when it comes to our gift/talent for our destiny. Everything we need for our destiny is inside us. It does take developing our gift/talent. When we do our part; then God is going to do His part. He has already started the destiny process in motion though. Even before our birth the process was in motion. We have to look at the bigger picture. Our destiny is not just about us; we are about serving others. The gift/talent we have is to help solve someone else’s problem. In doing this, we live our destiny. We all fit together perfectly when we operate in our destiny. Start sharpening your axe today. Discover your gift/talent and see how it fits with you destiny. Take the time then to develop your gift/talent and your life will never be the same again.

Lessons From The Nutcracker

Melissa, Gloria and I went to see the Nutcracker Friday night at the Bama Theater. It was the first time I had ever seen it. I think it’s the first time I have ever been to the ballet. The dancers were amazing.
The focus that the dancers displayed was awesome. The focus to train their gift and talent of dance is incredible. There are hours and hours of practice, eating right, and study that goes into being able to perform at that level. The same goes for us that might not be dancers, but we are all folk of destiny. We have a gift and talent that we have to sharpen. The only way to do this is to focus on our destiny. When we focus on our destiny we are in a sense serving other, because our destiny is all about other folk. Our gift and talent is not about us; it about serving others. One thing that stood out to me was that dancers were smiling. All through their perform they had a smile on their face. When we are operating in our gift and talent, no matter how difficult the task may be we too can have a smile on our face. The smile comes from the peace we have knowing we living our destiny. Day five of our destiny quest to end the decade. Still excited about the upcoming year and all that it brings to us and what we offer to it.

The Pattern

I have decided to start work on the Daily Destiny Devotional book. I have two years worth of blogs to look through, about 300 pages of stuff to read through and categorize. Help!!!
What do we do when we don’t know what to do? How do we act when we don’t know how to act? What do we say when we don’t know what to say?
I seem to faced with this everyday; so I am thinking some of you are too. I don’t always make the right call, but I am definitely learning to right thing to do and say. If I will respond in love then I am going to do right. I we drop our motive and agenda when dealing with folk then we will do the right thing. Love has to be the filter and the pattern that we use when determine our plan of action. One major lesson I am learning; love and selfishness can’t exist in the same person. So either selfishness or love; which one do you desire the most? Be careful how you answer, because I would always have said love, but respond with selfishness. However, by making myself accountable to you right here; I can say love. Dying the self is hard to do, but it can be done. Choose love as your pattern and filter today!

All Wrapped Up

There is a lot to be said about a person who operates in grace, mercy, forgiveness, humility and wraps them all in love. That is a person who is living their destiny.
The type of person that I just described is a jewel. They are definitely hard to find and they are very rare. That is what makes them so precious. They are extremely valuable. We can spend all of our life looking for that kind of person. Believe it or not; that person is you. We all have the capability to be just that type of person and even more. Deep down that treasure is buried in us. It is those few who bring mine that gift and bring it out and give it away every day that is so rare. You have a precious, costly, valuable treasure right on the inside of you. It gets covered up and smudged up by hurts, disappointments. These often come out in the form of selfishness. When we are able to break though the rock of selfishness and deal with the issues that have caused that us to be like that; then we can see the awesome gift that is in us. I know there have been times I have seen that gift in me; yeah even me. Even with all our faults and mistakes we have made; the gift is still there. It will never leave you. I see this incredible gift in my wife everyday and I see it reflected in me. I know that if I am be a person of destiny then I have to break down those walls that have been built up over the years. I know that I am not alone in this. I hope that this helps in some way. You are awesome and I know that you can be a person of destiny.
