Skills

When people hear the story of David and Goliath, sometimes they think, “That was all God.”

In a sense, I know it was God, but the truth is that God didn’t sling the stone. God didn’t cause it to hit at just the right spot. It was the skill God gave David that he had developed. Like David, God has put in you skill that can slay a giant. You have skill that can open new doors, skills that can lead to an abundant life, but the key is that your skill has to be developed. Every day that you spend growing, learning and improving, you’re getting prepared for that new level. Today, while you’re waiting for that new opportunity, start sharpening your skills. Study your boss. Study your manager. Learn that position. Be able to step into their shoes. When God sees that you are prepared, then He can open new doors. The scripture says, “Your gifts will make room for you.” Keep developing your skills because there is a giant slayer in you! Are you working on your God given skills today?

Helping Others

God has a system that is based on the principle of sowing and reaping.

In other words, what you pour out to others will come back to you in increased measure. When you give generously, a generous harvest will return to you. When you help others succeed, you will find abundant success on your path, too. Are you helping others succeed? Are you helping others get ahead? There are some people in your life who hold the keys for you to reach your full potential. These are people that God has placed in your life for you to help along. The higher they rise up, the higher you will rise up, too. When you give generously of your time, talents and resources, you are setting yourself up for greater success. People will come across your path that will help you grow and reach your full potential. Do your part to step out and sow the seed. Be on the lookout for ways you can help others. As you give of yourself to help others grow, you’ll see increase in return. You’ll see success and live the abundant life He has prepared for you. Are you helping others succeed today?

All About Others

There are a lot of people who are successful in this world.

They’ve accomplished their goals in the public eye.  However being successful isn’t just about what you make happen for yourself, it’s about what you make happen for others. It’s when you realize, “God has blessed me not to just sit back and let everyone see what I have done; God has blessed me to be a blessing to others. God has helped me to win so I can help somebody else win.” In other words, it’s when you realize, “God helped me overcome this addiction, now I’m going to go find somebody and help them overcome.” Or, “God has blessed me with a happy family. I’m going to go find a family that’s struggling and help them get back on track.” That’s what being successful is really all about. Look for ways to help others succeed. Reach back and give freely of the talents and abilities you’ve been given. Are you helping others be successful today?

Mad Skills

Some people have incredible skills, but in the end, the person who has the talent but not the work ethic will lose out.

In my work as a Performance and Mental Conditioning Coach I work with some people that have high level skills. However, in many cases their strongest assets are also their biggest weaknesses. For some reason, those that have the greatest skills often have the worse work ethic. No one can make it on talent alone in the long run. We see people all the time that have mad skills but because they don’t do the mental work or practice their skill; they fall by the wayside. Don’t let this be you. Develop a work ethic that is like none other. You may lose from time to time, but never let it be because your opponent out worked you. Focus on what you are to do and let no or anybody distract you from your work. Work hard and most importantly work smart. I stress the working smart over working long hours but not getting anything done. Working hard is important, but be sure you are working smart. Practice your skill, your talent until it is automatic. Is your work ethic what it needs to be today?

Living in Excellence

Excellence comes from striving, maintaining the highest standards, looking after the smallest detail and going the extra mile.

In today’s society, many people have accepted mediocrity as the norm. They do as little as they can to get by, always looking for the easy way out. If the boss isn’t watching, they’re playing on the computer. They simply go to work to pick up a paycheck, then wonder why they’re not promoted and don’t see increase. God is a God of excellence. Whatever we do, we should do it to the best of our ability and set the standard. Remember, you are ultimately working for the Lord. He’s the one who put those talents and abilities in you. You are a steward of the gifts He’s given. Other people may show up late. They may complain. They may cut corners. But don’t sink down to that level. You are called to excellence! I encourage you today, stay determined. Stay focused. Whether you’re a waitress, a truck driver, an architect, a police officer or a CEO, do it to the best of your ability. God is the one who brings promotion. When you set the standard, He will raise you up and pour out His blessing all the days of your life. Are you living in excellence today?

There is More

Knowing your unique talents is critical to completing your purpose and calling.

No matter what is happening in your life today you have a reason to be excited about your future! If things seem dark right now, know that the dawn will soon appear. The key is you have to remember that you are not here by accident. You have a purpose and destiny to fulfill, and God isn’t finished with you yet. Your best days are not behind you; your best days are out in front of you. God has greater things in store for your future than you have experienced in your past. His dream for your future is so much bigger than your own. He wants to take you places that you’ve never dreamed and open up doors that you’ve never imagined. He wants to bring talent out of you that you didn’t even know you had. He wants to increase you and cause you to be a greater blessing to the people around you. Get your hopes up and get excited about your future! Begin to thank Him for what He has in store. Keep standing, keep believing and keep moving forward because God has explosive blessings in store for you. Are you ready to use your talents to see your purpose and calling today?

Ready for Success

God has equipped you with everything you need to fulfill your destiny.

That means you are well able to do what He has called you to do. You can accomplish your goals. You can fulfill your dreams! You have the ideas, the creativity, and talent to be successful. You can overcome any obstacle. You’ve been armed with strength for every battle. Not only has God equipped you, but He is also working on your behalf. He has already gone before you and lined up the right people and the right opportunities. You have everything you need to live a victorious life — you were created to excel! You may not have seen it in the past, but if you’ll stay in faith, it’s just a matter of time; victory is on its way. Don’t settle where you are. Don’t have a weak, defeated mentality. Have the attitude, “I am anointed. I can accomplish my dreams. I can overcome any obstacle. I am empowered by God, and I am thoroughly equipped for every good work that He has called me to!” Are you ready to be successful and reach your destiny?

No More Sitting

People’s talent allows them to stand out, but they allow their failures and mistakes make them sit down.

Are you down on yourself today because of past mistakes you’ve made or because you’re not where you want to be in life? God knows every poor choice, every difficulty, every wrong turn you may have made, and He’s already planned your comeback. Know today that failure is not final. God always has the final say. Mistakes don’t have to keep you from your destiny. God’s plan can override every setback. Your world may be in turmoil today in a relationship, in your finances or health. But know this: not only will God rescue you; He will set your feet on a rock and lead you to your final destination in life. Remember, the promise He placed on the inside of you didn’t go away because you had some personal failures. No, that failure is only temporary but His Word remains forever! Keep hoping, keep believing because He will move you into the blessing and victory He has prepared for you! Are you sitting down because of mistakes and failures in your past?

No Comparing

More can be gained by focusing on those talents and gifts you know God has given you. Focus on what you have, don’t compare yourself to others.

Are you comfortable in your own skin? In other words, do you recognize yourself as the treasure God made you; or are you constantly looking for approval and comparing yourself to a neighbor, co-worker or friend? Do you try to out-dress them or out-perform them? Are you always looking for ways to one-up them? It’s time to let all of that go. Comparison is a distraction. Comparison is a thief. It steals your time, energy, focus and joy. You aren’t here to impress anybody; you don’t have to prove anything because you are God’s special workmanship. He created you with a purpose for a purpose. You are empowered and equipped to do everything He’s called you to do. If you will choose to stay free from a spirit of competition and just run your own race, not only will you enjoy your life more, but you’ll see your gifts and talents come out to the full. You’ll see His blessing and favor in a greater way, and you’ll move forward into the life of victory He has in store. What are you focusing on today?

Elvis in All of Us

You are talented and gifted. Don’t doubt yourself and what you are capable of doing with your life.

I was watching Elvis; That’s the Way It Is, the other night with my daughter. She is an Elvis fanatic, along with her daddy. While we were watching it, I got to thinking. What would I be like if I was talented and gifted in writing/speaking/coaching as Elvis was in singing? Then it shifted to; how do I know I am not as talented and gifted? All of our gifts/talents come from God. So who is to say that we are all as talented as some of the great people that have lived. We have to learn to operate in our gift/talent area. We have to grow, mature and learn how to be the person that God intends on us being. You have greatness inside of you, just as I do. We have to set aside our fear and doubts to set out in that area. What steps do you need to take to bring out your inner greatness? What will you do today to begin the process of living out your purpose in life? There is awesomeness residing within you and me.
