Piece or Peace of Mind

11 05 10 Friday

There is a proverb that says; as iron sharpens iron so a friend sharpens another.  I don’t know if you have seen someone sharpen iron but it is a violent thing; sparks flying, grinding noises, not a peaceful scene.

We are told in church and in the Bible to tell the truth, but do it in love.  We are told in the world to; just give them a piece of your mind.  These two just don’t go together.  When sparks are flying and you are being disciplined by a friend it’s hard to think, “Oh wow! They really must love me.”  There is an art to getting your point across but at the same time showing friendship.  There is a fine line that we don’t need to cross here.  I rather give someone a peace of mind rather than a piece of my mind.  Plus I don’t have enough mind left to give someone a piece of it; HA! So wrap your words, actions, responses to those around you in love, forgiveness, restoration, hope, peace, and kindness.  Remember how it feels to be on the receiving in of those exact same words.  Be kind to someone today.  Sharpen them, but when it’s done; they should feel more love and forgiveness than punished.

I want to wish my mom a very Happy Birthday today!! Like fine wine she keeps getting better and sweeter….
