Nothing but Truth

The best way for you to develop discipline is through proper internal dialogue. Speak positive, truth filled words to yourself.

If you only listen to the world around you; you won’t get many positive, truthful words. You will get why you can’t, why you never will, why you’re not good enough, and so on. However, to be disciplined in your life, you must have truth. Truth is the only thing that will sustain you when the storms of life come (and they will come). Speak the truth every day to yourself. Don’t rely on others to tell you truth; tell yourself the truth. By truth I don’t mean facts, but truth. What really is, not what appears to be. Facts are temporary, but truth is forever. So no more negative, fact filled words about you. From this moment on, nothing but positive, truth filled words. You are awesome, you are good enough, you can do it, you are gifted, you do matter, you are valuable. There is so much truth about you that you have never heard. Never let the facts get in the way of the truth. Are you speaking truth filled words about yourself?

Know the Truth

What is perceived to be true can often project a stronger image than the actual truth.

Are you going through a situation in your life that you don’t quite understand? During these uncertain seasons, it’s natural to question things in your mind. But in order to move forward, we have to look forward with our hearts. We have to look beyond the questions and continue to trust in what is true.  Understand that facts change every day. However, truth will always remain true. When you look at yourself and others, always look for the truth. What is the truth about you? What is the truth about that other person? Don’t let the facts ever get in the way of truth. Truth may look wrong, but your perspective may be off. Take the extra time to discover what is really true. You can stand on the truth at times. Facts will fail you. There is strength in knowing the truth. It may be painful at first, but knowing the truth will keep you in the tough times. Do you know the truth about you today?

Knowing Your Purpose

When you find the “truth” or your purpose in life, you will shock yourself by realizing how much more wonderful your life will become.

No matter what may be happening today, God has good things in store for your future! It may not be easy to see now, but God has already lined up a new beginning, new friendships and new opportunities for you. Maybe you’ve experienced some setbacks, but don’t make the mistake of expecting the same for your future. Instead, accept God’s good plan for your life by declaring His truth. Your attitude should be, “Even though the economy is down, I’m not worried. I know God is going before me, and He has promised He will make rivers in the desert.” Or, “The medical report may not look good, but I have another report that says God is restoring health to me. I believe God has already released healing, health and victory in my future.” Or, you may have a child who is not on the right course. In the natural, it seems impossible. But our report should be, “I know God can do the impossible!” Today, be encouraged and don’t give up on your tomorrows. Accept the good plan God has for you — a plan filled with hope, purpose, blessing and increase in every area of your life. Have you found the truth or purpose for your life today?

Going Through the Motions

If you are not living your life with a purpose in mind, you are not living life. You are meandering through life, going through the motions.

Did you know that right now you are equipped with everything you need to fulfill your passion and purpose in this life? Everything you need is on the inside of you — like deep waters. God leads you and draws those things out of you when you stay open and humble. You draw those things out when you are submitted to your destiny. You draw them out by declaring truth over your life. That’s what makes you a person of understanding — because you understand and apply truth principles. Don’t just live on the surface of life today. Be a person of understanding and draw from the resources that God has placed on the inside of you. Are you going in a positive direction or through the motions today?

In Your Heart

When you are so tired you can barely get up, fans are booing, it’s late in the game, your team is down. That’s character exposing time.

When the pressure is on, the bills are due, the doctor’s report is not good, kids not acting right, school is tough, that is when you see what you have on the inside and it will be exposed.  When pressure is applied the inner most character will come out. What is in your heart will just jump out of your mouth. You will do and say things you never thought you would when life gets tight. Make sure you are putting the truth inside you every day. Lies and facts will leave you disappointed and looking for more when it’s getting late in the game. When you are so tired you can hardly get back up, what then are you relying on? Last weeks, last year or even yesterday’s stuff won’t keep you today. Everyday put truth in your heart. Refresh and replenish it. Be character ready each day. There will come a time when life hits hard but you will be able to hit back harder and longer with the truth. What is in your heart today?

Mind Expansion

The greatest challenge you will ever face is that of expanding your mind.

So many people today are not really enjoying their lives because of the condition of their minds. They constantly dwell on negative, destructive, harmful thoughts. They don’t realize it, but the root cause of many of their problems is simply the fact that their thought life is out of control. They just dwell on any thought that comes. More than ever, we have to understand that our lives follow our thoughts. If you think negative thoughts, then you’re going to live a negative life. If you think discouraging, hopeless thoughts, can’t-do-it thoughts, mediocre thoughts, then your life is going to go down that exact same path. That’s why we have to take captive every thought and renew our minds with the Word of God on a daily basis. I want to challenge you today to think about what you’re thinking about. Don’t let those self-defeating thoughts linger in your mind. Instead, speak God’s promises over your life. Say what He says about you. Take captive every thought and renew your mind daily. As you do, you’ll be empowered to move forward into the abundant life He has for you! Are you speaking the truth today?

Deliberate Attitude

Your attitude toward life should be deliberate, not circumstantial.
Transforming something in your life whether it’s your attitude, mindset, financial situation or bringing change into a relationship can seem like an overwhelming task. But as the old saying goes, “How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time.” Likewise, the way you change your life is one thought at a time. Your thoughts set the direction of your life. If you need to change the direction you are headed, you simply need to change your thoughts in that area. When a thought comes to your mind that “you’re never going to get well; this is your lot in life,” don’t dwell on that. Don’t sit around and have a pity party. No, immediately reject it and replace it with the truth, not the facts. I encourage you to be aggressive in taking every single thought and making it line up with your process. Stay determined, stay focused and keep speaking truth because you can change your life, one thought at a time. Is your attitude deliberate today?

Changing Mindsets

Circumstances don’t determine your value, your worth. If you think you’re not good enough, your world will confirm that in your mind.

I have often said, “You are more than good enough.” However, if you look at your situation, listen to what the world is saying, or what you sometimes feel about yourself, then you will believe the lie. The lie being, ‘you are not good enough.’ There are many voices today that will try to convince you that you will never amount to anything, that you are a failure, a mistake, a waste of time. This is a lie, yet if not careful, you will believe it. When we are in a situation when things are not going right, we start to slip back into those negative mindsets. Reverse the negative thoughts, you are more than good enough, you have what it takes, you are valuable, you are cared about, you are a winner. Don’t let the circumstances determine your value or worth. Know the truth about yourself. Even if its hard to believe, the truth will begin you out of that negative mindset. Be a champion today! Are you needing to change some mindsets today?

Pride

The truth is always hard to swallow if your choking on your pride stay humble.

I heard someone say; “I am proud of my humility.” That’s funny; I don’t care where you are. He was joking, but there is a lot of truth in the statement. When you have too much pride, then you will have a hard time handling the truth. The easiest way to handle the truth is to stay humble. I have had many battles with pride and lost them all. The only way to defeat pride is to remain humble. A good test of this is; can you handle the truth? If you can hear the truth about yourself and not get angry or upset, then chances are you are humble. When you don’t handle truth well, then pride is alive and well in you. As you start off the new year, do a pride check. Make sure you can take truth and are humble. Make it a lifestyle of getting pride out of your system. Pride will do nothing but take you down. The Bible says that pride comes before a major fall. Nearly every time a person has a major character failure; they were prideful. Be careful in the area of pride. Work on being humble today. Is there any areas in your life that you are prideful?

This One Thing

There was a time in my life when everything was falling apart.  My dad had died, my  family was in turmoil and I didn’t have a clue what to do or where to turn for help.

Then early one morning I was praying and I simply asked God this one question; “What can I stand on no matter what is going on in my life”?  I had to have an answer because everything I had believed in for my entire life I had seen fall and crumble.  I only wanted one thing, because at that time I could only handle one thing.  I begin to write things down such as; prayer, worship, tithing, praise, worship, but each time I felt a no, so I would cross out the answer.  I got up to leave where I was and said; “Well, God at least now I know there is nothing that I can depend on no matter what. I may not like it, but knowing that truth is all I wanted to know.” I was just about to walk out the door when down in my belly, right where you feel the pain, the struggle, the hurt the most; I heard this just as clear as day; “Scott, my love.”  No angelic choir busted out in song, no bells or whistles.  But I knew then that God’s love is always there.  It is always constant.  When nothing else is standing, nothing makes sense, no one is there for you; Jesus loves me.  From that day til now, when life seems unfair and all looks like it is about to fall in on me; I remember that one thing; Jesus loves me.  Now if He loves me that means that He loves you too.  Know that one thing.  Jesus loves you!
