Don't Give Up On Folk

Do you feel like giving up on other people? Especially those that are close to you? It’s easier to give up on someone not connected to you, but what about those close to you.  I know what it feels like to be given up on. It’s not a good feeling.

I admit there are folk that we may have to keep at arms length.  They have a tendency to damage and hurt us deeply.  Does this mean we give up on them? Does this mean they can’t change for the better?  Is there any worse feeling than knowing someone has lost confidence in you and given up on you.  That is an empty, lost and hopeless feeling.  I wouldn’t wish that on anybody.  I encourage you today to not give up on people.  You may be asking, “What if they are hurting me?”  Again you may have to keep them at arms length, but no we don’t give up on them.  We pray for them, encourage them to change; just like we would want people to do for us.  I know I have to make changes in my life and I work on them everyday. Some days I make progress and some days I go backwards. That being said, I know that I can’t give up on others, because I am asking the same from people.  When we start seeing others from their own perspective we will have more hope in them.  We judge others from their actions, but judge ourselves from our intentions. Give people the benefit of the doubt and give them hope.  Give them forgiveness.  Give them grace and mercy.  Just don’t give up on people.

Truth over Facts

Do you have days when you want to throw in the towel, quit, give up, and walk out? If you do, I hope they don’t come very often and don’t stay very long.  A few days ago I had one of those days.

There are still days when I just want to quite doing everything that I do.  I am human and will always have to deal with these emotions and feelings. We don’t have to give in to them though. We don’t have to allow them to stay on us.  We don’t have to feel sorry for ourselves.  We don’t have to have a pity party.  When we feel these things coming into our mind that is when the truth must rise up in us.  We have to have to truth in us, however, for it to rise up.  Give the truth the final authority in your life.  That doesn’t mean you still won’t to fight, but it will be the good fight.  A good fight is one we win.  The facts were I wanted to have a pity party, I wanted to just feel sorry for myself and give up.  I was tired of being rejected when I couldn’t see why I was being rejected. I was tired of feeling useless and unwanted.  However, this is not the truth.  The negative feelings may seem and appear real, but know they are not true.  When life gets tough and hard, that is when we must not give up, but we must stand on the truth.  Start learning the truth about yourself today! Truth is always true.

From Trying to Doing

It seems like sometimes the harder I try the less I get done.  I want to move from trying to doing.  I want to move to that place where my insecurities stop me from doing.  Trying is no longer acceptable; time to move to doing.

When we are in trying mindset and things keep going wrong and we seem to get nothing accomplished; that is when give up will show up.  There are times when I try so hard to do what I believe I am supposed to do, but then nothing right seems to happen.  That is when those insecurities will jump up and tell you to give up.  They will tell you it’s not worth all these, just give up you will never be good enough.   When insecurities tell you that people will never accept you, they will always reject you; it is so easy to just throw in the towel.  When we get stuck in trying and never get over into doing, then we are likely to listen to those insecurities and give up.  That is just what the enemy to our destiny would have us to do.  Stay with the plan, do what is right, do it right, and do it for the right reason.  Don’t allow those insecurities to rule your life.  Believe in your God given gift and never let insecurities to stop you.

I Doubt It

For the past week I have dealt with doubt and some of the fear we talked about earlier.  I don’t doubt in what I am to do, but I doubt if it will make a difference or will I ever see the fruit of it.

I love doing what I do each day.  I know that I can write, coach, and encourage others.  I know that I am learning and will get better at what I do; just as you are getting better at what you do.  The thing that gets all over me sometimes is; am I doing it right, does what I do make a difference, will I ever see this come to fruition? It’s not about getting credit, glory or stuff like that, but to know that you are making other’s lives better.  It is to know that you are making a positive difference in other’s lives.  I don’t think I really have a fear, but more of doubt.  The two maybe inner-changeable; I’m really not sure.  I believe I have gotten closer to the point, that it really doesn’t matter if I know or not.  I will continue to do what I have been created to do.  I hope that you do the same.  Be sure to encourage those close to you.  Always find something positive to brag on someone.  Help others defeat their insecurities.  Be a difference maker in the lives of the folk you come in contact with each day.

You Are

“It’s too late for me,” “I don’t have a purpose or a destiny,” “I have made too many mistakes in my life to have a destiny.”  I have heard all these statements.  I have even said it myself.  None are true though.

It is a sad truth that the most wealthy place is the cemetery.  Buried in every graveyard are the priceless destiny’s of those that never lived out their destiny.  For one excuse or another they choose not to walk out their destiny.  Don’t make a deposit in the destiny graveyard.  You have a priceless gift inside of you; your destiny.  On the outside it make never look like you will be able to walk in your destiny.  We don’t go by looks, feels, or facts.  We go by truth.  Truth is you do have a purpose in life. Truth is you are valuable, precious, wonderful, awesome, and marvelous.  You are gifted and talented; “Yes I mean you”!  Stop listening to the negative, defeated stuff.  I admit, I get just plain mad when I hear someone being degraded or put down.  I get really upset when someone has been beat down so long and lied to so long that they believe the lies they have been told. See, there was a time when I did that to people. Those lies we been told may be facts, but they are not the truth.  Remember, truth overrides facts every time.

Time to Walk

I have spent the last 2 years out of the boat; walking on the water.  I have been up and down, but never staying down.  Is it time you got out of the boat and started walking in your destiny too?

When I moved into full time writing, it was a major out of the boat experience for me.  I had jumped out of the boat in time past and sank straight to the bottom.  However, when God says “It’s time,” then it’s time.  There is nothing more exciting than living in your destiny zone.  Now, if you do like some and get your focus off your destiny; then you will allow that fear to enter in and you will sink.  The key is stay focused.  When you see that your focus has gotten off a little bit, then make the necessary adjustments.  How do I know if it’s time to get out of the boat? Good question.  If you are bored, frustrated, irritated, stagnant and going in circles then it may be time for you to get out.  At first, when you make those initial steps you will have to get your sea legs or destiny legs underneath you.  There will be some training, some learning, for you to do.  Once you get going though, the learning and training will continue but it will come as you move from level to level.  Take a good look at your life; at the situation you are in right now.  Is it time for you to get out of the boat? If so, I encourage you to do it today.  You will not be alone.  You will never be by yourself. There will be others right there with you.  I am excited for you today! This is going to be your greatest day ever and tomorrow looks even better.

Get Out of the Boat

The one thing that stops us from walking in our destiny is fear.  It can any number of fears; from fears of failure to fears of success and many more in between.  There can be no fear in us if we are going to live our destiny.

We talked about the truth of Peter getting out of the boat and walking on water in yesterday’s blog.  This is the same as us getting out of our boat and walking in our destiny.  However, the thing that almost caused Peter to go under is the same thing that can cause us to go under; fear.  Folk close to us will tell us every reason why we can’t do this or that.  The others in boat with Peter were hollering at him too.  “Hey why are you getting out of the safety of the boat,” “You built this boat, you can’t get out,” and so on.  In most cases people do mean well, but they too are controlled by their fears.  Take courage today for I am telling you; “Yes you can walk on the water,” “You can live your destiny,” “It is time to get out of the boat.”  You have what it takes to live your destiny.  Never let fear rob you of your destiny.

Walking on the Water

The truth that Peter walked on water means to me that if we focus on Jesus and what He has told us to do; then nothing is impossible.  When we are walking in destiny we are in essence walking on water.

I know that when we are living in our destiny that we are a walking miracle; in that we are doing stuff everyday that we would not be able to do in our own strength.  Just in the past couple of years and especially this year so far, I have seen God do things in my life that has been nothing short of miraculous.  He will open doors where are no doors and shut doors that need to be shut.  We forget that Jesus was a master carpenter growing up; who better to design and build a door for our life.  From books, blogs, texts, website, and other projects He has given me favor with folk.  I am not intelligent or creative enough in my own right to do this stuff; if is because of I decided to get out of the boat and then got out; when He told me  too.  All this is to say that if He did it for me then He will do it for you.  In some cases He already has done it for you. I look to you for inspiration and encouragement.  In others of you, He is preparing you for your destiny.  Note to self: the storms will come and there will be those that say I can’t do it. Don’t look at the wind and the waves.  Stay focused on the one who created me with destiny.  Today you are being prepared for greatness.  Your destiny walk awaits!

Secure, Confident, Truth

Secure in who you are; how many of us really have that quality? How many of us are confident in who we are? How many of us know the truth about us?

There are many people that have no idea who they are, why they are here, or what they are supposed to be doing.  They hate what they do day to day, but don’t know what else to do.  There are also many folk that have little to no confidence in who they are.  There are even less that know the truth about themselves.  We have been told stuff about us that isn’t true, but it is true to us.  We believe the facts rather than the truth.  It is time to start becoming secure in who you are.  It is time to begin the process of being self confident.  Today is the day to starting discovering the truth about you and living in the truth.  I am not saying that I have arrived in all these areas, I am working on it too.  However, I am better than I was yesterday and tomorrow I will even be more better.  I am discovering daily the truth about who I am and why I am here.  We won’t be shaken when things go against us when we are established in our identity.  We will discover that we will withstand the stuff that happens in and around us.  Get hooked up today in security, confidence, and truth. It will take you to a new and higher level of living.

We Are the Rats

“We are the rats, blind as bats, lost in the woods, wheres we ats.” That was our motto for the Rat Patrol.  A group of guys way back when. I thought of that the other day; so many of us are blind and lost.

I hear people say they don’t know who they are.  They have lost themselves in life.  Some have allowed others to suck the life right out of them.  I see folk using others and leaving them empty with no identity.  They have no clue who they are anymore; if they really ever did.  You may not have this issue in your life, but I bet you are close to someone who does.  On the other hand, you may be saying that is me you’re talking about.  My heart goes out to someone that is in this place.  It is a dark, deep place to be in when you don’t really know who you are.  I want to encourage you today though. You do have an identity, a purpose and a destiny.  Start finding yourself today.  Find out the truth about who you are.  Leave that dark, desolate place behind and step into the real you. Will the real you please stand up.  It will take a little time to get out, you didn’t get here over night and you won’t be out in a day, but you will be making progress. Start today! Get to know the real you, because you are awesome!
