Living Excellence

Excellence is not a one time thing, but a habit. You are what you do over and over again.

There was an article out recently that talked about how to reduce the risk of being laid off. There are three main things that employers look for when deciding who to keep. They want to keep people who are positive, people who are versatile, and people who are always improving. Are you focused on developing your gifts in such a way that your company cannot make it without you? Do they notice that things don’t run nearly as smoothly when you’re not there? If you take a week off and nobody misses you, all the work gets done and sales are just as good, unless you’re the owner, it’s time to sound the alarm. If you’re not being missed, then maybe you’re not needed. You need to kick it into a new gear and start producing more than you have been. When we sharpen our skills, when we work with a spirit of excellence, we will stand out. Leaders will take notice. Remember, as you keep doing your best, as you stay faithful and keep growing, God will cause you to be noticed and move forward in the life of blessing He has prepared for you. Are you doing your best today?

The Best You

There was an article out recently that talked about how to reduce the risk of being laid off.

There are three main things that employers look for when deciding who to keep. They want to keep people who are positive, people who are versatile, and people who are always improving. Are you focused on developing your gifts in such a way that your company cannot make it without you? Do they notice that things don’t run nearly as smoothly when you’re not there? If you’re not being missed, then maybe you’re not needed. You need to kick it into a new gear and start producing more than you have been. The Bible is clear, when we sharpen our skills, when we work with a spirit of excellence, we will stand before great men. Leaders will take notice. Promotion comes. Like cream rising to the top, you will rise higher as well. Remember, as you keep doing your best, as you stay faithful and keep growing, God will cause you to be noticed and move forward in the life of blessing He has prepared for you. Are you being the best you that you can be today?

Demand Excellence

Simply put, you must demand excellence. Anything less can’t be acceptable.

It’s one thing to demand excellence from others, but you first have to demand excellence from yourself. When I talk about excellence I don’t mean perfection. Excellence is when you focus on the positive and eliminate the negative through positive focus. Perfection is when you only focus on the negative and never find any positive. Excellence is not only within you it is in you. Excellence is not an occasional thing, but an every day occasion. Refuse to accept anything less than excellence from yourself in everything you do; big and small. Excellence is the only way to achieve your goals and your destiny. You can be a person of excellence. You were created with excellence. Not perfection, but excellence. Focus on what you can do and do it. Stay focused and work with intensity until you are done. Dedicate yourself to being a person of excellence. Separate yourself from average and become who you were created to be. Make excellence a lifestyle. Are you living an excellent life today?

Living in Excellence

Excellence comes from striving, maintaining the highest standards, looking after the smallest detail and going the extra mile.

In today’s society, many people have accepted mediocrity as the norm. They do as little as they can to get by, always looking for the easy way out. If the boss isn’t watching, they’re playing on the computer. They simply go to work to pick up a paycheck, then wonder why they’re not promoted and don’t see increase. God is a God of excellence. Whatever we do, we should do it to the best of our ability and set the standard. Remember, you are ultimately working for the Lord. He’s the one who put those talents and abilities in you. You are a steward of the gifts He’s given. Other people may show up late. They may complain. They may cut corners. But don’t sink down to that level. You are called to excellence! I encourage you today, stay determined. Stay focused. Whether you’re a waitress, a truck driver, an architect, a police officer or a CEO, do it to the best of your ability. God is the one who brings promotion. When you set the standard, He will raise you up and pour out His blessing all the days of your life. Are you living in excellence today?

Finish With Excellence

Even if you are dog tired today; don’t you settle for average. Push yourself to be excellent. Do the extra mile; don’t just try to get by.

As the year nears the end, we all get super busy.  Being so busy can be not just physically draining, but mentally draining too.  It can be easy to cut corners and settle for average during this time.  I challenge you to finish the year strong. Finish the year with excellence.  Don’t get caught up in the non-essential, mind and physically draining aspects of the holiday season.  It is Christmas and Jesus is all about excellence. So honor the Christmas season with Christmas spirit and don’t settle, but do more for others than they expect. Do it for the right reason and find yourself energized, not dog tired. Finish 2011 strong!

Misunderstood

Sometimes I feel like the only way I am understood is by being misunderstood.  Ever felt that way? People that are living their destiny are quite often misunderstood.

When you are doing your best, falling yet getting back up, failing but never a failure, making mistakes but never giving up; then you will be misunderstood by many.  Those that are living a life of mediocrity will not understand your life.  When you keep trying when everything is going against you; most won’t get it.  They just don’t get it. This is a major rule of average people.  We all have the choice of being average or a person of destiny that never settles for average.  Just know that you will be misunderstood during your life.  I choose to be misunderstood and live my destiny to the fullest and I believe you do as well.  Make the decision today to live your life to the fullest and never settle for mediocrity.

Yes You Can

01 11 11 Tuesday

I wrote once about; “Yes you can.”  You have permission to live your destiny.  You are good enough, smart enough, and talented enough.  Sometimes we need to hear that again.

We hear, too often, about we can’t do something or that we aren’t good enough to do something.  Listen, you are good enough.  It’s easy to believe the negative and bad stuff about us, but know that the opposite is true.  Never think for a second that you don’t have what it takes.  You have exactly what it takes.

If you were doing exactly what you were created to do, what would you be doing right now? Sometimes we think our purpose and destiny is tied to one area, when in reality it isn’t. So think about it, if you were living your destiny to the fullest; what, where, and who would you be?

Don't Look Back

01 08 11 Saturday

There was a song that had the line; “Don’t look back,” in it.  Satchel Paige, a baseball player, used to say;”Don’t look back, something may be gaining on you.”  Both of these lines are good advice.

There is an enemy to our destiny and for most it is called ‘our past.”  When we get caught up in our past mistakes and wrong decisions we can easily lose sight of our destiny. If our past can keep us focused on it, rather than our destiny, then we will never live our destiny.  When we are stressed out and worried about what was; rather than exciting and pumped about what is coming; we have lost.  Our past is just that; past. It is gone; whether good, bad or ugly; it is all in the past.  Get your focus on today and what is coming.  Prepare by learning from the past, it is useful for something, but don’t dwell there.  Just like with Moses and the Israelis, when the cloud or the pillar of fire moved; they moved with it.  It is time to leave all the past in the dust and move on.  Our destiny is ahead and waiting for us to get a move on.  You are awesome and that includes your past.  You are still in the game. Don’’t take yourself out.  See you at the finish!

Stir It Up

12 30 10 Thursday

It’s time to stir up that gift that is inside of you. I was thinking the other day about what is like when we are operating in our gift.  Not so much from our point of view but from God’s point of view.  He is the One who gave us our gift.

I was thinking what it must be like when we use our gift; whatever your gift may be.  What does God see? What must He think when we are using our gift with no agenda, no motive except to honor Him?  I don’t believe it is wrong to think that God has tough days, He is dealing us you know.  So when we are just giving back to Him what must He feel?  If it’s music, writing, art, teaching, care giving whatever your gift is, how proud of us is He?  When we are in that flow, in the zone and what we are doing just seems effortless, you know it has to be because He is listening and watching.  It’s not performing before God, but just enjoying God and He enjoying us.  I know as a dad I am proud of my little girl when she is operating in her gift, even as young as she is, how much more must He feel toward us.  It is beyond my concept, but I am beginning to get a sense of it.  All of this is to say, use your gift.  Stir up the gift that is inside you.  Use it without agenda or motive. Just do it! You are an awesome and gifted person, no matter what that gift may be.   As we lean into 2011, honor God with your gift.
