You Can

With so many people in the world telling us we can’t succeed, we need to hear people telling us we can.

Too often we think it’s our role to inject a dose of “reality” into someone’s life. We think it’s our job to protect people from the pain of failure and defeat. We think we must point out how bad the economy is and how horrible the job market is and how the sky is falling. We think that dreams were meant for others. I say there are enough pessimists and “realists” in the world. The world doesn’t need more negativity and impossible thinkers. The world needs more optimists, encouragers, and inspirers. The world needs more people to speak into the hearts of others and say “I believe in you.” “Follow your passion and live your purpose.” “If you have the desire then you also have the power to make it happen.” “Keep working hard.” “You’re improving and getting better. Keep it up.” “The economy is tough but you can still grow your business.” “The job market is not great but I believe you’ll find the right job for you.” “We’ve hit a lot of obstacles but we’ll get the project finished.” “Even if you fail it will lead to something even better.” “You’re learning and growing.” I encourage you today to encourage someone during your day. Are you encouraging others?

Sow a Blessing

Have you thought about the people in your life who need your blessing? They need your approval. They need to hear you say, “I’m proud of you. You’re going to do great things.” That’s speaking the blessing. That’s releasing favor into their future. When you say to the people you love, “I’m so glad you’re in my life. You mean the world to me,” you just gave them the blessing. When you tell one of your employees, coworkers or a student, “You amaze me with your ability. You have such a bright future,” those are not just nice compliments. When you speak the blessing, you’re releasing God’s wisdom, protection, favor and abundance into their future. You can literally help shape their destiny. One word of encouragement, one word of approval can be what helps them to really step up to who God created them to be.

Today, choose to speak the blessing. Sow good seeds into the lives of the people you love. Remember, what you make happen for others, God will make happen for you. As you sow the blessing, you’ll reap the blessing and experience His victory and favor all the days of your life.

Time to Walk

I have spent the last 2 years out of the boat; walking on the water.  I have been up and down, but never staying down.  Is it time you got out of the boat and started walking in your destiny too?

When I moved into full time writing, it was a major out of the boat experience for me.  I had jumped out of the boat in time past and sank straight to the bottom.  However, when God says “It’s time,” then it’s time.  There is nothing more exciting than living in your destiny zone.  Now, if you do like some and get your focus off your destiny; then you will allow that fear to enter in and you will sink.  The key is stay focused.  When you see that your focus has gotten off a little bit, then make the necessary adjustments.  How do I know if it’s time to get out of the boat? Good question.  If you are bored, frustrated, irritated, stagnant and going in circles then it may be time for you to get out.  At first, when you make those initial steps you will have to get your sea legs or destiny legs underneath you.  There will be some training, some learning, for you to do.  Once you get going though, the learning and training will continue but it will come as you move from level to level.  Take a good look at your life; at the situation you are in right now.  Is it time for you to get out of the boat? If so, I encourage you to do it today.  You will not be alone.  You will never be by yourself. There will be others right there with you.  I am excited for you today! This is going to be your greatest day ever and tomorrow looks even better.

Encouragement Seed

10 21 10 Thursday

I write a lot about folk going through tough and difficult times.  You may not be going through anything like that right now.  So why would I ask you to read this each day then?

If you are doing great and all is good in your world; then I recommend that you find someone who is going through a tough time and send them the blog.   Use it to encourage someone else.  At the same time, if you are going through a difficult time I still recommend that you send it on to someone else to encourage them.  Think of it as a seed you are planting.  When we offer encouragement to someone else then we reap encouragement. There will come a time when you will need a good harvest.  I find it in my life to be true.  God’s timing is impeccable.  He knows what we need, but more importantly He knows when we need it.  There can be no mistaking the importance of timing.  So there are two times when we need to encourage others, when we feel like it and when we don’t.  We will always get the harvest at the needed time.  Be the catalyst for someone else that needs the spark in their life.  You will never regret encouraging someone.  Use your smile, a pat not the back, it will come back to you.

Opportunity of a Lifetime

09 18 10 Saturday

The things that fear and doubt make us do are just crazy.  The things that belief and confidence make us do are just crazy.  These characteristics are polar opposites but they lead us to some crazy things.

When I have been lead by fear and doubt I have missed out on some awesome opportunities.  However, when I was lead by belief and confidence I was able to step out into some awesome opportunities.  Which of these are you allowing to dictate your moves? From what I am seeing more and more of we are letting fear and doubt control us.  We may have one time acted in belief and confidence and it didn’t work out right.  Well, then we set the standard. I will never let that happen again.  It isn’t long then before there is nothing happening at all.  When an opportunity comes our way, if we are in fear and doubt mode, then we let it go, we will even run from it. The opposite is true when we are living in belief and confidence, we run toward opportunities.  Remember, the opportunity of a lifetime must be grasp during the lifetime of the opportunity.  God is sending folk your way, job opportunities your way, relationship opportunities your way, and destiny opportunities your way.  Which glasses are you looking at them through? Which filters are you evaluating them through? What paradigms do you use?  We either look at opportunities through doubt and fear or belief and confidence.  The choice is yours today.   Choose belief and confidence.  By the way, the belief and confidence that I am referring to is not in the opportunity, but in yourself.  I believe and have confidence in you! There is awesome gifts and talents in you! Today is your day of decision!

Yeah I Did

09 14 10 Tuesday

I will be the first to admit that I have traded my integrity for selfishness many times.  I have chosen what I wanted over what was right very often.  I have taken for myself rather than given to others more than I want to count.

I may be alone in this, but I really don’t think so.  I may just be one of the few that will own up to it.  It’s not like it’s a secret though, everybody knows it.  I don’t ever remember waking up in the morning and saying to myself, “Self, let’s go out today and royally screw up.”  I might as well have though, because that is exactly what I did.  Did it more than once too.  There have even been several days in a row that I have just went out and did what was wrong to myself and to others.  I am not proud of the fact, but it still remains true.  I want to do what is right and I am willing to do what is right; that is the Christian code for crying out loud, but when push came to shove; I caved in.  I didn’t wake up after it was over with a jolt and realize what I had just done; I was awake and aware the whole time.  I even liked it for a a little while, but then the guilt, shame, hurt and disappointment all began to set in.  Then I really started to dislike what I had done, but even more I began to dislike me.  For a long, long time I had huge amounts of resentment towards myself.  I hope I haven’t lost you with all this; like I said everybody knew it, there was no secret.  I was a very human being.  Why then say all this? Good question.  I say all this to say that if you do relate to what I have said; hope, restoration, and reconciliation are available for you. They come at a price though; the price is repentance and change.  Never give up on yourself. Never lose hope in your destiny.  Don’t believe for a second that you are alone; that you have gone too far, that there is no hope, no future, no way you can turn it around, because you can; we can.  Once I stopped trying to change all by myself and made myself accountable to others; then my life did change.  You can too! I am a firm believer in you and the power of God’s love in you! With Jesus all things are possible.  Today is your day! Your best day in a long, long time and tomorrow is looking even better!

Working on a Building

09 11-10 Saturday

I am writing about confidence in my book project; Playbook of Champions.  After doing some research on confidence; I am seeing that there are a lot of folk that do not have confidence in themselves; I can even see myself in this group.

There is little doubt that a lack of confidence comes from having a lot of insecurity.  I wrote the other day that building confidence destroys insecurity. For many folk not having confidence comes from others have told us during our childhood and even into our adult lives.  Overcoming a lack of confidence though really can’t be turned around by with others tell us.  It does help to have someone telling you that you can do it, you are good enough, you have what it takes, but I am seeing it really takes much more.  The much more is on our part.  We have to buy into and believe that have the stuff. I know in my part I try to help folk build their self confidence.  I believe in restoration and reconciliation for anyone that is willing to change and will walk it out.  I believe that we can rebuild our confidence and walk in the strength of our confidence.  It is a process but a process that you and I can accomplish.  If you are lacking in confidence then you are reading the right writing.  Together we can build confidence!

Take That Step

09-02-10 Thursday

Do you ever wonder if ‘your day’ will ever come? When will I catch a break? When does my ship come in? When, when, when? The answer is today! Today is your day! There is no time like the present. We are living in the greatest time known to man, don’t wait until your time has come and gone to act.

So many folk never take the first step toward their destiny. They feel like the time has to be perfect. Well, this is as perfect as it gets. We will never be perfect, but we are perfect enough. You have a calling, a destiny, a purpose in your life. Today is the day to start living your destiny. Do something today that you have never done to take the first step in moving toward your destiny. It may be scary at first, but it will be the beginning of the most exciting time of your life. You will never regret moving into your destiny. The regret will be if you never fulfill your destiny. You have not been disqualified or replaced. Your destiny is for you and you only. You are more than able. God has hand picked you for a special purpose and He has a plan for your life. What is your plan? What is your purpose? What is your destiny? These are questions that need to be answered. Take the time to think over and pray over your life. See what God has in store for you. You will be glad you did.

Regrets

09-01-10 Wednesday

There are days when I do feel the regrets from my past. I remember the people that I have hurt, those that are uncomfortable around me and those that simply avoid me all together now. I believe that many of you feel similar regrets in your own way.

However, when these feelings try to bring us down; we have to know that we aren’t that person any longer. If there are those that we have done wrong then, by all means, do your best to make things right. I know that some folk don’t want to make things right. In that case, forgive and ask forgiveness and move on. There is no way that my past regrets are going to hold me hostage in any way. We are to make sure that we are not being lead by our past. We have to know that we are changing and making better decisions now than we were then. Know that no one can control you by holding your past against you; unless you allow them. I don’t know your past, but I have a glimpse of your future; of your destiny. Your future is looking good. Your destiny is starting to unfold. Your past does not disqualify you from your destiny. On the contrary, it qualifies you for your destiny. You are awesome! We got issues, we all got’um, but we are working through them, not avoiding them. Today is your day to shine!

If you have questions or comments please feel free to contact me at www.scottwimberly.com or you can call or text me at 205-210-9311. Have a great day and I love you!
